Key rituals and features: Binota: There are special shoes for the bride and groom, which are a part of the wedding. 8 Pheras: In some societies, like those around Barmer, 8 pheras are taken instead of 7, in which the groom completes some of the rounds while carrying the bride in his lap. Traditional food and music: Traditional dishes are prepared in village weddings and folk songs and music have special significance.
